Why run an MTS Info Night in your church

MTS Info Nights are information sessions that share the MTS vision with potential apprentices, trainers, and churches. They introduce people to the ministry apprenticeship pathway, giving them an overview of why they are helpful, how they work, and when they should consider undertaking one.

At MTS, our vision is to ‘win the world for Christ by multiplying Gospel Workers through Ministry Apprenticeships’. We aim to help local churches and ministries raise up harvest workers by identifying gifted and godly individuals, and training them in ministry via an Apprenticeship, before helping them to decide on the next step in their ministry journey.

We believe every gospel worker should be seeking to identify and raise up the next generation of gospel workers (2 Tim 2:2).

“Then he (Jesus) said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” Matt 9:37-38

Info nights create culture

An MTS Info Night offers churches a powerful tool to foster a ministry training (and recruiting) culture amongst their members. These events are designed for anyone considering a future in ministry, providing a unique opportunity to explore the path of training through an apprenticeship.

Attendees can hear first-hand experiences from past and current apprentices and trainers, gaining insight into the process and the impact it has on both the individual and the wider church.

These events also serve as an accessible introduction to MTS Apprenticeships for church leadership teams and key lay leaders! They highlight the importance of raising and training gospel workers, giving churches a clear vision of how they can invest in the future of ministry.

Because an MTS Info Night is held over one evening in your local church, it’s relatively simple to organise and easy for anyone in the local area to attend, removing the barriers of time and distance.

Trainer Mike Wong, Minister at Albury Presbyterian Churches, uses Info Nights as a key culture piece for their churches!

Mike explains, “We invite all the people in all our churches to come along to the Info Night. I’m sort of the MTS champion for our network at the moment. And so, I keep encouraging the pastors too, asking ‘are there people worth watching?’ And to put that question before them, because, like me, if it isn’t raised to the surface, it’ll just get whisked away.”

The best attendees for an MTS Info Night

Info Nights are a great event for all sorts of people, both in the church hosting or from other local churches.

Invite to your Info Night:

  • Potential apprentices
  • Potential trainers in your church
  • Staff or lay leaders from other local churches who don’t yet do MTS
  • Family and friends of potential apprentices and current apprentices
  • Members from your church!

For potential apprentices, an MTS Info Night is an easy initial commitment to those investigating compared to a day or weekend-long recruiting conference. Invite people who are or should be considering an MTS apprenticeship in the next four years.

For potential trainers or other local churches, an MTS Info Night is helpful in exposing them to the MTS movement and giving them insight into the vision and structure of apprenticeships.

For family, friends and church members, an MTS Info Night grows the culture of ministry training AND serves to grow a supporter network for apprentices. It is also the perfect place to ask questions and better understand what doing an apprenticeship will look like for their loved one.

At St James Anglican Church in Berala, Info Nights are a whole church affair. Mike Doyle, Senior Minister and MTS Trainer, explains, “I want to train our apprentices to be trainers, so they need to be thinking about how do I raise up the next generation? And so I get them to run the MTS Info Night. And the way we pitch it at church is not just if you’re thinking about MTS, but actually this is something we’re committed to as a church, raising up apprentices and equipping people. And this is part of that. So I encourage everyone in church to come.”
