“I realised the fear of man is a real challenge, especially in ministry. The best way to overcome this is by fearing God, because He’s really the only one we should be fearing.”
These are the words of first year apprentice Mike Wziontek from Vine Church, Surry Hills, reflecting on a weekend of being pushed on what it means to fear God. Throughout SPUR conference in early September, delegates were challenged to ask themselves what they fear – is it God, or man? Through the guidance of experienced pastors and teaching from the Bible, the conference seeks to encourage disciples to consider training for ministry through an MTS Apprenticeship.
This year’s talks from Simon Flinders, Senior Minister at Northbridge Anglican Church, Sydney, prompted delegates to consider how their fear of God needs to surpass all other fears and drive their decisions.
