Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. — Philippians 3:13–14
As we approach the end of another year, we are reminded that ministry is a long obedience in the same direction. The race is ongoing, and our eyes remain fixed on Jesus—the author, perfecter, and sustainer of all gospel work.
In this update, we are delighted to share what God is doing through Ministry Apprentice Training (MAT) in Zimbabwe. From the graduation of new trainers, to the launch of a fresh Training of Trainers (TOT) cohort, to apprentice graduations and a vibrant recruiting conference, God is growing faithful workers who are pressing on to serve His people.
Celebrating trainers: TOT Cohort 4 Graduation

Ten women from the Training of Trainers (TOT) Cohort 4 completed their two-year program from 3–6 November 2025, marking a significant milestone in their ministry journeys. Over the course of the program, they learned to prioritise God’s strategies for gospel growth over merely human tactics, and each received a MAT Training of Trainers certificate.
One graduate, Mrs L. Muteedzi, shared her reflections on the impact of this training.

“This journey has helped me understand that we must be faithful in our work for God, and He will reward us. I’ve studied several books—including Titus, Corinthians, and Colossians—but 2 Timothy 3:11–12 stands out. ‘Persecution and suffering come to those who want to live godly lives in Christ, but by the grace of God, we conquer.’ This verse strengthens me in my ministry as a pastor’s wife.”
A new beginning: Launching TOT Cohort 5
While one group completed their race, another began theirs. Five gospel workers commenced the two-year TOT Cohort 5 in Marondera, stepping into a program designed to equip them to train others and multiply gospel workers across Zimbabwe.
Rev Tim Thorburn opened the first session by teaching Trellis and the Vine, exploring the calling and purpose of gospel workers in God’s Kingdom.
Participant Pastor Danmore Kavhukatema reflected, “I recently had the privilege of attending T.O.T. 5—a truly transformative experience. I gained a renewed appreciation for the intentional development of the next generation of leaders and the vital role of mentorship, as reflected in the Timothy–Paul model.”
Six apprentices graduate from the MAT Program

On 7 November 2025, six MAT apprentices graduated after completing their two-year apprenticeships, receiving both MAT Certificates and Explore the Bible Certificates. Their testimonies revealed how God has shaped their conviction, character, and competence, preparing them for full-time ministry.
One graduate, Mr Tatenda Machiha, shared, “When I joined MAT, I had received Christ as my Saviour, but I wasn’t fully prepared to delve deeply into the gospel. Through Explore, I moved beyond a basic salvation experience to a deeper, structured understanding of the gospel. I learned the foundational narrative of the Bible—from Creation through the Law of Moses to the New Testament—which equipped me to understand and explain my faith.”
Raising up the next generation: Recruiting Conference 2025
From 7–9 November 2025, the MAT Zimbabwe Recruiting Conference welcomed 14 delegates exploring whether God might be leading them into apprenticeship. Through engaging sessions, interviews, and discussions with trainers, delegates examined their convictions, character, and experiences.
Guest preacher Rev P. Ntikitila urged them to cultivate biblical convictions that shape all of life and ministry.
Delegate Kudzai Mukwena shared how deeply he was challenged, “The talk on biblical conviction resonated deeply, underscoring that our convictions must be rooted in Scripture, accompanied by faith, confidence, and obedience. Christ’s model of humble servant leadership was a powerful example. The final message asked: How are we spending our lives as servants of Christ? Christ’s invitation to work in His vineyard is an opportunity to rejoice with Him.”
Looking ahead
Upcoming event: Theological Students Day — 16 December 2025
This gathering will bring together MAT Admin and all students currently in theological colleges across Zimbabwe. It will be a key opportunity for strengthening partnership, fellowship, and vision.
