Laneway Church Footscray | Trainer: Angela Prentice

Hi there! My name’s Vanessa, and I am enjoying serving and growing at Laneway Church in Melbourne’s West with my husband Vu for over 8 years now. We have three young children, and I’m thankful to God that I get to spend my days loving and caring for them.

Amidst the busy and messy season of raising young children, I find myself filled with joy at the opportunity to be trained in ministry, to grow to be more like Jesus, and to consider how I might serve Jesus for a lifetime. God-willing, I will be starting a part-time MTW MTS apprenticeship in 2026 at Laneway.

Over the years, God has been confronting me with the realities of heaven and hell, and I have been challenged to consider how I might use my life to serve Jesus. I have often attended many an event night, program, or conference (sometimes with a breastfeeding baby in tow!) to be encouraged by others’ journey towards vocational ministry, and to learn how to discern this together with Vu.

When my dad passed away in 2022, I felt for the first time how deeply painful, grievous and awful death is. Everything about death is wrong and speaks of all that is not right with this world. This is where I saw the gospel shine brightest and true – for it is only in Jesus that there is true hope, an end to saying forever goodbyes, and the gracious gift of eternal life. It would be my joy to use my life to share this hope in Jesus to all who will hear!

• For the transitions and changes that we will go through as a family, as I engage in ministry training
• That, for Vu and I, our walk with God and our marriage would be strengthened
• That prayer and spending time alone in God’s Word would be my priority and my source of strength and joy, as I juggle ministry training and caring for my family
• That I would trust God to provide for us over the coming years
• For Laneway Church to continue to grow in maturity, in their love for Jesus, and love for the lost
• That many in Melbourne’s West would hear the message of true hope in Jesus and be saved
