Darebin Presbyterian Church | Trainer: Aaron Boyd

Hi, I’m Alex and I am so excited to be able to start a ministry apprenticeship at Darebin Presbyterian Church in 2022-2023!

I have had the idea of doing a ministry apprenticeship on my heart for a few years now.  After continuing to experience so much joy in sharing the gospel with those around me (particularly youth) and feeling dissatisfied in my current job, even though it was in a field where I had lots of experience in and enjoyed and was with the loveliest coworkers, I came to the decision that I should do a Metro apprenticeship to experience what full-time gospel ministry would be like. I have become convicted that there is nothing better than Christ, and it is so important to be able to share his goodness with others so that they may experience the new life that comes from having a relationship with him. I am doing an apprenticeship so I not only can get a taste of what full time ministry might look like, but also so I can be trained and equipped to learn how to best support, encourage, and love God’s people on their journey knowing Him.

I felt particularly called to youth ministry and am so looking forward to getting to spend time with the youth at Darebin over the next two years and into the future. Being a teenager can be a really tricky time, but also one of such growth and its such a joy I have to have been able to journey alongside youth through my past experiences in youth leading, camps and as a dance teacher. I hope that with God’s help and with the support of the church we are able to see more and more youth who are able to come to have a personal relationship with Christ, and are secure in their place as his children and as loved and treasured members of their church and youth group. And that they may then be encouraged and supported in sharing their faith with their peers!

I am so thankful to God for this opportunity and for how he has and will continue to use my imperfect and fragile self for his glory!

Prayer Points

I would be so thankful for your prayer for me during this time! Please be praying that:

I am able to faithfully serve Darebin Presbyterian and their youth.

That I would be devoted and committed to spending time in scripture and prayer, and growing my personal faith and relationship with Christ.

That I will be equipped to best teach Gods word and serve his people.

That I will be bold in reaching out to others and sharing the gospel with them.

That we might see youth (and adults!) take on their faith for themselves and come to know and have a personal relationship with Jesus.

That I might do all I do for God’s glory.

And that Christ will be my foundation, hope and joy in all the ups and downs of the next two years.
