Preparations for MTS Recruit are well underway, and MTS has been blessed to partner with a number of wonderful organisations in creating a conference that will inspire, challenge and equip current and future gospel workers.
One such partner is Geneva Push, an Australian church planting network.
Geneva Push and MTS have a long and deep relationship. Many of the same names pop up in the histories of each organisation, but more importantly, we share a common goal: to see Australia and beyond won for Christ.
Geneva Push recognises that apprenticeships can form an important part of achieving this goal. In fact, Derek Hanna, General Manager, says that Geneva Push has a goal for every church plant to have an apprentice involved in planting the church.
“Our research shows that apprentices in church plants will then plant stronger churches themselves that reach the lost more effectively,” Derek says. “An apprenticeship prepares a person for the ambiguity and uncertainty of planting.”
As we speak, Geneva Push is gladly partnering with MTS Recruit. One of their team Gus, Operations Manager, is serving on the conference committee, bringing his skills in marketing in particular to the committee. Geneva Push has given Gus freedom to use time during work hours to serve MTS.
“Lending” Gus to MTS was an easy choice, as Derek explains, “We can do more together than we could alone, and we know that Geneva Push is part of a bigger work in Australia, a crucial part of which is apprenticeships.”
The Geneva Push network is excited about being a part of MTS Recruit at this moment in history in particular. “There are lots of distractions and challenges this year. Everyone is tired,” Derek says. “But there is an opportunity to engage with people in a way we never have before. As the world is united in a pandemic, we can encourage Christians to be united in a vision: to speak the certainty of Jesus to an uncertain world.”
