You know that you are saved by grace, through faith (Eph. 2:8), but do you know it in your heart? Has this truth “travelled the 15cm from your head to your heart”? Sam Gough from Tasmania, Australia, shared with us his experience of this.
“I grew up in a Christian family where my mum was a Christian, and she took me to Sunday school, and Christian schools, but I just remember lying in bed in high school thinking, I really need to obey the 10 commandments better, and to please God. I obviously didn’t get the gospel. Then in Grade 11 I changed schools to a big public school… There was a lunchtime Christian group where a local youth pastor came along and ran a course looking through the book of Romans… It was there that I first understood grace, that we’re saved by grace through faith… That knowledge travelled the 15 centimetres from my head to my heart”.
The faithful witness of gospel workers brought Sam Gough to know the true light of Jesus.
Sam is now a minister at Wellspring Anglican, and an MTS trainer. He shared with us his heart behind serving as a trainer:
“It’s crucially important that we have as many young men and women trained up to be gospel workers as possible… That we have the best quality gospel workers trained up for the health and growth of the local church.”
“Imagine shutting down the med schools in our country. We’d be sowing the seeds of death and disaster. Likewise, if we fail to raise up that next generation of gospel workers as well, then we’re sowing the seeds of death and disaster for the local church.”
“There’s no more important task than to raise up that next generation of leaders for the church and God’s kingdom. To take the gospel to the ends of the earth, including here in Tasmania.”
You heard it here. There is no more important task than to raise up that next generation of leaders for the church and God’s kingdom.
