In March 2025, we welcomed a new Registrar onto the MTS Team! We’re excited to have Juliette Antoon take on the role. She has come to MTS from coordinating the Preliminary Theological Certificate (PTC) at Moore College.
Getting to know MTS
Juliette’s history with MTS started before ‘MTS’ existed in its current form! She shares, “ I went to the first Club 5 conference and became friends with MTS before it was called that”. Club 5 was run in the early days of the movement to encourage people to consider ministry.
Juliette explains, “I studied medical science at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), but you could have been forgiven for thinking I was doing a Campus Bible Study course instead. The university Christian group had a culture of teaching the Bible and ministry skills to students, and that is where I began to consider full-time ministry.”
Juliette took some time to commit to doing a ministry apprenticeship. Initially, she took a highly flexible research assistant job at the university, which enabled her to serve Christians in science.
She shares, “I felt strongly that Christians in the pews were important ministry coworkers and was concerned that training lots of full-time workers could diminish the training and trusting of other Christians as ministry partners.” But this perspective eventually shifted.
Juliette explains, “ I became less resistant to the idea of doing an MTS apprenticeship after becoming convinced that good ministry training would seek to multiply lay ministry, not squash it.”
Taking the plunge
Juliette did her apprenticeship at UNSW from 1998-2001. She is grateful for how godly and gifted male and female trainers helped her think theologically about ministry and how to serve the students she got to work with. After this, she went to Moore College and studied for four years. This was followed by 9 years as the women’s minister at St. Michael’s Cathedral in Wollongong.

A diverse experience
While at St Michael’s, Juliette was a visiting chaplain for theological students at Moore College and through that – eventually moved into her role as coordinator of the PTC!
Juliette shares, “8 years ago, I took on helping the PTC course transition to a new management structure. I had just finished my role at St Michael’s. So I said, ‘Can I help you? You know, just temporarily.’ Because I loved the PTC students and valued the course. I was still running the course as Assistant Registrar 8 years later!”
Juliette coordinated the operational aspects of PTC and implemented strategic development. Her PTC role was extremely diverse. Apart from helping students, running graduation and improving course communications and processes, she managed educational content, developed long-term course content review processes and coordinated individual content improvement and publishing projects.
Although it was an unexpected role to fall into, Juliette is very thankful to God for her time with the PTC and the many lessons learned!
Empowering people for ministry
Juliette has long maintained her passion for empowering lay people for ministry. Now as she begins at MTS, this is something she is thinking through in the MTS context.
She shares, “ MTS Apprentices are growing in their knowledge and love for Jesus in different ways to the PTC students and exploring their place in a ministry pathway. I’m excited for this opportunity to support the many apprentices and trainers, and training centres and hope to witness God growing many healthy future ministers of his people who will entrust the gospel to others (even mature lay people!). Please pray that I will be useful, and have energy and wisdom and joyful partnership with apprentices, trainers, and the other MTS Staff as I grow into the role.”
