Westminster Presbyterian Church, Bull Creek | Trainer: Matthew Dodd

Hi there! Thank you for visiting my MTS apprentice page. My name is Jared Venter and I am continually amazed at God’s great mercy and love, supremely revealed in Christ Jesus. I am super excited and thankful to be a member of WPC Bull Creek, which my wife Katja and I have called home for around two and a half years. From July this year, we will be moving to our sister Church WPC Maida Vale. I was raised in a Christian family and I am thankful to God for blessing me with a family who taught me the Gospel of Jesus’ death and resurrection from a young age. I became a Christian as a child and I am so thankful that God is so gracious. We all deserve judgement for our sin, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus. It is truly amazing that God Himself, in the Person of Jesus, would take the penalty for sin upon Himself on the cross. I am currently working on my honours degree in theology from Spurgeon’s College, where I recently completed my thesis on Church History. Some of my interests include hanging out with people, music, reading, writing, ballroom dancing, basketball and enjoying the outdoors.

Looking back over one and a half years of MTS at WPC Bull Creek, I’m so thankful to God for the great opportunity MTS is to grow in Christ Jesus and to learn more about proclaiming the Bible and the Gospel. My MTS apprenticeship is two years (2018-2019) and my fundraising target is $60,000. I have loved doing an MTS apprenticeship, because I strongly believe that the apprentice style training method for Gospel workers is Biblical, as 2 Tim 2:1-2 (ESV) says:”You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus, and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.” Jesus says in Luke 10:2 (ESV) “The harvest is plentiful, but the labourers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers into his harvest.” Our world needs to hear the truth about Jesus in order for people to be saved and so that people will grow in Christ Jesus. I have greatly enjoyed working in partnership with MTS, WPC Bull Creek and fellow Christians to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus. My wife Katja and I are really looking forward to joining our brothers and sisters at WPC Maida Vale from July this year. After finishing MTS at the end of 2019, the plan is for me to begin a pastoral internship at Maida Vale at the start of 2020 to God willing work towards ordination.

Prayer Points

Please pray: – That my upcoming trip to England in June/July will be a great encouragement and opportunity to grow in Christ (I will be spending time getting involved at St Helen’s Bishopgate and attending my Bible college graduation); – For a smooth transition and great relationship building at WPC Maida Vale for Katja and I; – For labourers to be sent out into the harvest; – That God will continue to grow all of us MTS apprentices in our love for Him and longing to see the Name of Jesus proclaimed; – That MTS apprentices and their supporters will build each other up in following Christ; – That God will enable me to trust Him and rely on Him in all circumstances; – That MTS will enable me to grow in my ability to teach the Bible and proclaim the truth of the Gospel; – That God will be glorified through MTS and the Name of Jesus exalted!
