I became a Christian in 2004, towards the end of high school, and joined my close friend at Balwyn Wesleyan Methodist Church. It was here that I discovered a loving God and a loving community, and I was eager to take up opportunities to serve these people that loved God and loved me so deeply. After a few years at university, I became involved in Christian Union, and there I grew in my appreciation and amazement of Jesus. My eyes were opened to the beauty of the gospel, its centrality to God’s mission, and its impact on life today. After university I decided to pursue a career as a bassoonist, while continuing my involvement in ministry at church. Over time, I grew in my passion for ministry, and I began to take up more ministry responsibilities. However, it became clear over time just how under-equipped I was. At the start of 2015, I found myself seriously comparing these two aspects of my life: music and ministry. Big questions were floating around in my mind: What does God want me to do with my life? What is the best way for me to use my skills and gifts? What do I really think is important? It was a culmination of all these experiences that led me to consider undertaking an MTS apprenticeship.
